Hi! Welcome to the Canadian Women's Brass Collective.
We are a group of professional musicians who have joined forces to explore and celebrate our mutual love and commitment to the world of brass. We are performers, educators, researchers, and conductors. We are soloists, members of symphony orchestras, chamber music performers, military band members, new music enthusiasts, and early music performers.
Our aim is to raise awareness of gender diversity, to foster positive attitudes, and to provide inspiration and role models for the next generation of Canadian brass players as they advance in their journey through music.
From January 15-19, 2019 we will be meeting at the University of Toronto for That's What She Said - a week of masterclasses, workshops, excerpt competition, and roundtable discussions. The week will culminate in a final performance featuring our guest artists on January 19 at 8pm at Walter Hall.
That's What She Said is for students, enthusiasts, and professionals to be exposed to the diverse ideas and musicianship of some of the top professional brass playing women in the country.
All That's What She Said events are free and open to the public. All genders, ages, and levels are welcome. We hope you will come and join us!
Many thanks to Yamaha Canada Music, the Hannaford Youth Band, the International Women’s Brass Conference, Long & McQuade, St. John’s Music, and The Leading Note for sponsoring this event, and to our co-producer, the University of Toronto.
